Noted percussionist and studio musician Michael G. Fisher has sold his home in Santa Monica off-market for $3.25 million.

The Rustic Canyon retreat, built in 1930 and since updated, is highlighted by vaulted ceilings, multiple skylights and a modern chef's kitchen. Some 1,911 square feet of living space contains a formal living room with a fireplace, a dining room and master suite with a Japanese-style soaking tub.

A detached guesthouse adds an additional en-suite and kitchenette. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms in all.

Hedged by tall trees, relaxed grounds of more than half an acre contain a patio, a sun deck and a pool and spa.

Fisher is known for his percussion work on the title theme for the HBO series "Six Feet Under," which earned an Emmy for outstanding main title theme music in 2001. Among his film credits is "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" (2003), "Transformers" (2007) and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011).

The home made a brief appearance on the Multiple Listing Service last summer, listing for sale at $3.349 million. Records show it previously went for $900,000 in 1997.

Claudia Beck of Rodeo Realty was the listing agent, according to parties unauthorized to comment on the sale.
