Quarterbacks commit Ricky Town and Sam Darnold, who have each committed to USC, showed they could throw the deep pass Saturday in the Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome.
Town played for the West team, which won 39-36.
Town, who is from Ventura St. Bonaventure High, connected with Louisiana State commit Derrius Guice for a 61-yard touchdown pass play that gave the West a 33-3 lead in the second quarter.
Town completed two of three passes, was sacked twice and had one pass intercepted.
"There was a lot of great talent everywhere," Town said. "Plays that you can usually make, they weren't so easy anymore."
The East trailed, 36-9, in the fourth quarter when Darnold and Duke commit T.J. Rahming teamed for a 63-yard touchdown pass play.
"The speed is way different than high school," Darnold said, adding, "I think I came out here and held my own."
Darnold, from San Clemente, completed six of seven passes for 89 yards and had one pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown. He rushed for eight yards in two carries.
