It took 130 firefighters about an hour Saturday night to put out a fire at a five-story apartment building near UCLA, officials said.
The blaze began just before 8:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Wilshire Manor Apartments, a 46-unit apartment building in the 10600 block of Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
To accomodate more than a dozen fire trucks, officials shut down Wilshire Boulevard in both directions between Manning and Westholme avenues.
At least one person was transported to the hospital and being treated for smoke inhalation.
Some residents were evacuated from the apartment building while others were urged to shelter in place.
The apartment building, built in 1957, is located about four blocks southeast of UCLA.
