Clippers fall to hot-shooting San Antonio Spurs, 125-118

The San Antonio Spurs snapped their four-game losing streak with a 125-118 win over the Clippers at AT&T Center on Monday.

The Spurs shot an incredible 75% from the field in the first half and led by as many as 17 points. But the Clippers came back to tie the score, 102-102, with 6 minutes 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter after Jamal Crawford made a jumper.

The Spurs then went on a 7-0 run to take an eight-point lead with 4:51 left.

The Clippers cut it to a two-possession game with 34.4 seconds left, down 121-116, after Chris Paul made three free throws. The Spurs' Boris Diaw then missed two free throws with 27.5 seconds left, and Matt Barnes made a jumper with 21.3 seconds left to cut the Clippers' deficit to three, 121-118.

Manu Ginobili made one of two free throws to give the Spurs a four-point lead with 20.3 seconds remaining. Paul then missed two three-point attempts in the final seconds. Danny Green made two free throws, and Tim Duncan hit one to close the game.

Spurs point guard Tony Parker started Monday after missing the previous six games because of a mild left hamstring strain. He scored 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting and had four assists in just under 34 minutes. 

The Spurs' four-game losing streak was their longest since they lost lost six consecutive games in 2011. During the recent skid, the Spurs averaged 17.5 turnovers a game. On Monday, they had only 11. 

The Spurs (18-11) outshot the Clippers (19-9) from the field, 63.6% to 50%, and from beyond the three-point line, 56.5% (13 for 23) to 41.7% (10 for 24).

Paul led the Clippers with 25 points and nine assists. Blake Griffin had 22 points, six assists and six rebounds. J.J. Redick had 21 points and Jordan Farmar added 18 points. 

Duncan finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs. Diaw had 23 points on nine-for-11 shooting. When the teams played Nov. 10, the Spurs won, 89-85.

The Clippers are on a stretch of four games in five days in four different time zones. On Friday, they lost to the Denver Nuggets, 109-106. They beat the Milwaukee Bucks, 106-102, on Saturday. They travel to Atlanta to play against the Hawks on Tuesday.
