Sefo Liufau threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns as Colorado overcame an 11-point third-quarter deficit to beat Massachusetts, 41-38, on Saturday.

Massachusetts had turned a 20-14 deficit into a 31-20 lead by scoring 17 points in a span of 2:54 late in the second quarter and early in the third. Then Colorado scored on its next three possessions on a 14-yard run by Christian Powell, and touchdown passes of 70 and three yards from Liufau to Nelson Spruce.

Colorado (1-1) survived a scare from the Minutemen (0-2), who dropped to 2-24 since moving to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2012. The Buffaloes bounced back from a 31-17 loss to Colorado State in which they led most of the way.

Blake Frohnapfel threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns for Massachusetts, which lost its opener to Boston College, 30-7.

at Washington 59, Eastern Washington 52: Cyler Miles ran for three touchdowns rushing and threw for another in his season debut at quarterback, and the Huskies withstood seven touchdown passes from Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams Jr.

Washington jumped to a 21-0 lead in less than eight minutes, saw that entire advantage evaporate under a barrage of Adams touchdown passes, then took advantage of a key turnover early in the fourth quarter to finally shake the Football Championship Subdivision powerhouse.

Adams finished 31 for 46 for a career-high 475 yards.

No. 17 Arizona State 58, at New Mexico 23: Taylor Kelly threw for two touchdowns and ran for another and D.J. Foster rushed for a career-high 216 yards as the Sun Devils beat the Lobos.

Arizona State (2-0) grabbed a 22-0 first-quarter lead behind rushing touchdowns from Deantre Lewis, Kelly and Kalen Ballage.

The Lobos (0-2) pulled within 29-21 with 4:49 left in the second quarter, but Arizona State scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and New Mexico's only two points in the second half came on a blocked extra point that Brandon Branch returned 98 yards.

at California 55, Sacramento State 14: Jared Goff matched his career high of four touchdown passes, backup Luke Rubenzer threw for one and ran for another, and the Golden Bears beat the Hornets.

Kenny Lawler caught two touchdown passes from Goff — including a leaping one-handed grab — while Maurice Harris and Darius Powe also scored on touchdown receptions. Goff went 17 for 22 for 229 yards.

at Utah 59, Fresno State 27: Travis Wilson threw a career-high five touchdowns and Kenneth Scott and Dres Anderson each had a pair of scoring catches to power the Utes over the Bulldogs.

Wilson completed 11 of 20 passes for 181 yards and left the game early in the third quarter with Utah ahead, 38-7.

Oregon State at Hawaii: Late.
