Taysom Hill threw for 200 yards and a touchdown while running for 160 yards and another score, and No. 25 Brigham Young beat Houston, 33-25, on Thursday night in Provo, Utah.
Jamaal Williams rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns for BYU, which has won its opening three games for the first time since 2008. The Cougars moved into the rankings after a 41-7 victory over Texas last weekend.
BYU jumped out to a 23-0 lead in the first half, but the Cougars (1-2) rallied to narrow the deficit to 23-15 at halftime.
Houston's John O'Korn passed for 307 yards and three touchdowns, including a 45-yard desperation heave to Daniel Spencer as time ran out in the first half.
North Carolina completes investigation
North Carolina has completed an internal investigation into an alleged hazing incident involving football players.
The school said in a statement that information was sent to the student attorney general, who will decide whether to pursue charges through the honor court. The statement doesn't name anyone involved or details other than the incident took place off-campus Aug. 4.
Coach Larry Fedora suspended sophomores Des Lawrence and Brian Walker, redshirt freshman Donnie Miles and true freshman M.J. Stewart for the opener for a "violation of team policy."
That came one day after a Yahoo Sports report of an alleged altercation at a hotel where players were staying for preseason camp, leaving a redshirt freshman walk-on receiver with a possible concussion. The school had previously said it was investigating an incident involving football players, though it hasn't confirmed it was a hazing incident.

According to several reports, Oklahoma State quarterback J.W. Walsh could miss the rest of the season after foot surgery. Walsh was hurt in last week's game against Missouri State.

Rutgers Coach Kyle Flood received a two-year extension that takes his contract through 2019. His salary will increase to $1.25 million next season.
